5 Steps to Finding the Perfect Rental

Monday, 12 February 2018 17:46

Finding a rental can be a daunting task, especially when you don’t know where to begin. Maybe this is your first time renting and you’re not sure where to look. Or maybe it’s been a long time since you’ve looked for a rental and not sure what you are looking for just yet. Either way we’ve got the tips you need to be successful!

1.      View our FREE listing atwww.gsorentahome.com

Rent-A-Home is the best source to find a wide variety of rental options in the Greensboro area. From studio apartments with utilities included to 4-bedroom homes with a lake front view- we offer options for every budget. At any given time, we have about 30-50 properties available. What’s great about the Rent-A-Home website is the ability to filter for exactly what you’re looking for. If you know your budget you can filter by that! If you know you need a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home- you can filter by that! If you know you want to be in the zip code 27401 you can even filter by that.

2.      Drive by the properties you’re interested in and set up a tour!

While pictures and descriptions can tell you a lot about a property, sometimes the best way to know if a house or apartment will work for you is to view it in person! Make sure to view the exterior of the property- make sure the size and yard are what you are looking for. You must also consider the location. How long will your commute to work or school be? Are there shopping and restaurants near by that interest you? Do you need to be close to the highway or would you rather be in a more secluded area? These are the important things you need to consider when deciding where you will live for the next year- or longer!  If you are interested in the safety of the neighborhood you may contact Guilford County Police to look up police records in that area. If there is a particular school zone you need you can search the Guilford County School Locator to see if it’s right for you!

3.      Ask a Rent-A-Home expert!

Here at Rent-A-Home all we handle are rental properties so we are able to assist with many different questions and concerns you may have. The president of Rent-A-Home, Kerri Person, has been in business for over 25 years and is well versed in the rental market! Call our office if you have any questions about the properties and we can help you. Once you set up a tour you can meet with our knowledgeable agents at the tour. Karen Fuquay has been a showing agent since 2011 and knows every rental house inside and out! If you don’t like the property you signed up to tour she can suggest 5 more great options for you.

4.      Consider your must-have amenities

Everything could be perfect about a house on the outside, but you must think about what’s on the inside as well. A majority of our properties will come with a fridge and stove, but some do not come with things like a microwave or dishwasher. For some people not having a dishwasher is a deal breaker and that is something important for you to consider! Also, will the property come with a washer dryer or just connections? It’s a good idea to make a must-have list to quickly sort through the available properties.

5.      Apply and get the process started!

The next step to getting your perfect rental is to apply! It takes us about 3-4 business days to process rental applications and there are steps you can do to help the process go faster! Make sure to include with your application a valid photo ID and proof of income. That could be your 2 most recent paystubs, proof of disability or SSI, or an offer letter from a new position. Don’t have enough income to qualify? You are welcome to get a cosigner to apply with you! We will process your credit, criminal and background check. We then present our findings to the property owner who makes the final decision. Once you are approved we will call you to set up a lease signing.
